Rather than focusing on traditional grammar lessons, the program emphasizes practical communication and cultural competence—two essential tools for creating inclusive, supportive, and equitable learning environments.

Emphasis On Communication

Spanish For Educators help teachers, counselors, administrators, and other school employees communicate with students who have Spanish as their first language and speak little or no English. Participants learn the fundamentals of Spanish and familiarize themselves with often used phrases that relate to everyday school situations.

Develop New Perspectives

Learning the culture of the target language is essential for appropriate interaction since language and culture are viewed as inseparable. Spanish For Educators will not only allow you to acquire Spanish to communicate with your students, but it will also help you develop new viewpoints by exploring the culture, practices, and perspectives of your students.

Make A Difference

Make a difference in the lives of your English Language Learners and their families. Learning Spanish will help you communicate with parents who often feel disappointed to see their children struggling academically. Most importantly, by learning Spanish, you will empower yourself to establish meaningful connections with parents who play a crucial role in their children's education

A classroom is a place where all students must feel accepted and involved. Non-Spanish speaking teachers may need to make an extra effort to involve Spanish-speaking students in the classroom. Learning to communicate with students in their language is one way to generate involvement and help students to feel confident in the classroom.
