In Viajemos Juntos, your child will learn how to greet, count, spell in Spanish, express likes and dislikes and list colors. Let your child’s
imagination travel with us to various Spanish speaking countries and explore some of their customs, traditions, and perspectives!

During this session your child will learn Spanish vocabulary to talk about pets and playing, friends and eating, animals and food, and much more.

All classes combine vocabulary building games, hands-on activities, and basic reading to learn to communicate in Spanish in basic
sentences. In addition to learning Spanish, students will practice community membership skills during group work and problem-solving skills through interpretive activities.

In this session students discover the fun of reading in Spanish, learn high-frequency Spanish words, use context clues to determine the meaning of a foreign word, and discover the sounds of the Spanish language.

The goal of this session isn’t to learn to read in Spanish, it’s simply to explore the Spanish language, build up Spanish vocabulary, and develop an interest for Bilingualism through basic reading and fun games. In each class, students are exposed to an engaging book that gives them the opportunity to explore and learn the Spanish language while inciting in them respect, moral values, and empathy towards others.

No experience with the Spanish language is needed to join this class.

Recent brain research using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has shown that the best time to learn a second language is at a young age. Children at the elementary level are still able to absorb a second language and develop proper accent.

Exposure to another language also equips the brain to learn additional languages later in life. In addition to developing a lifelong ability to communicate with people from other countries and backgrounds, other benefits include improved overall school performance, intellectual flexibility, and superior problem-solving skills and standardized test scores  (e.g.,Bamford & Mizokawa, 1991).

Our methodology embraces self-expression and spontaneous use Spanish. Our method is not based on teaching grammar rules, performing tedious drills, or relying upon textbooks. We implement the OLA way of learning languages (Organic Language Acquisition) coupled with  immersion principles to facilitate communication in a natural way, without fear of making mistakes.

Our research-based- language programs have been aligned to proficiency guidelines recommended by ACTFL (The American Council On The Teaching of Foreign Languages), National Standards, and Georgia Performance Standards for Modern Languages.

Acquiring a second language is a complex process that occurs over a long period of time through similar stages: Preproduction, Early Production. Speech Emergence, Intermediate Fluency, and Advance Fluency (Krashen & Terrell, 1983).

Generally, the more the frequency of Spanish exposure, the higher the acquisition rate (Pearson, Fernández, Lewedag, & Oller, 1997).

We develop our own material taking into account acquisition guidelines recommended by The American Council on The Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).

The student/teacher ratio is 15/1

It all depends on the school as it each school may handle this in different ways. We make an effort to work with the school’s administration to have a room number before the day of class and make arrangements to guarantee kids are supervised at all times. As soon as we put our rosters together prior to date the program starts, the school’s administration and homeroom teachers receive copies to assist students with class location and remind them about their participation.  Attendance will be taken every class to make sure your child is present.

Our units are thematic which help us to combine different grade levels and levels of proficiency in the same class. Each session has been designed to help your child reach Spanish proficiency taking into account ACTFL proficiency guidelines. Proficiency guidelines allows our teachers to differentiate instruction and provide opportunities for all students to acquire the language regardless of their age.

Just email your child’s Spanish teacher to notify about the absence or at info@olalanguageschool.com

Teachers will always start the class by reviewing and practicing what was previously learned, so your child will not feel lost if he/she happens to miss a class.

Our classes are taught by highly trained and proficient, college educated language instructors. All our teachers are also required to complete extensive background checks. We also required our teachers to be fingerprinted per school district request.
